I work with a wonderful mix of clients who are diverse in their experiences and identities, combining relational therapy and the expressive arts to give clients the tools and space to create fulfilling lives and relationships for themselves. I strive to help each client find their personal agency through understanding the dynamics in their families of origin AND the systems in our society as a whole. In this way, I see mental healthcare as tool for social justice. I believe that therapy is a collaboration between therapist and client. It is imperative that we work together and listen to your own inner wisdom so that you can pursue the outcomes that are important to you. I promise to be open-hearted and non-judgmental, while also being an active participant in our relationship and the work. I do not provide KAP for clients who are suffering from serious depression or addiction, but I am happy to help you find a good referral for someone who does. About 15 years ago, he discovered the new research using psychedelics to treat end-of-life anxiety, PTSD, addiction, and depression. He sought out training in these treatments and, in 2021, completed the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) certificate program in Psychedelic Therapy and Research, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) MDMA therapy training program. Yes | Miller | LCSW-C | Calliope Health | Bethesda | MD | 20814 | No one is immune from mental illness. Rates of major depression and anxiety soared during the pandemic. My own two-year struggle to resolve my own symptoms reached a turning point after several of my own clients told me they were using ketamine treatments to accelerate the course of their own treatment. They didn’t have to tell me how it was working. I could see it plainly, like seeing night and day. Soon after, I consulted with my doctors and finished a successful course of ketamine treatment for myself. Since then, I’ve devoted myself to learning everything about the best practices for ketamine to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic illness from stress. I’m also committed to learn how ketamine fits into the larger medical renaissance of psychedelic-based treatments, since MDMA is slated to become FDA-approved in 2023, followed by psilocybin in 2024. I've been a certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist for 15 years. IFS fits like a glove with the work we do providing Ketamine Assisted Therapy. We focus on IFS in our KAP sessions to help facilitate getting to know how Protectors are trying to help, and safely exploring Exiles, which carry the most pain. I've also specialized in relationship and marriage counseling for 20 years, helping couples improve emotional connection, sexual intimacy, and become masters at conflict resolution. We regularly offer unique, one-day retreats in our Bethesda office for clinicians (medical or mental health) to have an experience with IM ketamine, in a loving and supportive group container. Once per month, on the last Tuesday of each month, we offer a Psychedelic Peer Integration Group. It's a place to get support and insight into prior psychedelic experiences and give/receive encouragement for each person on their healing journey. | Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (including preparation and integration)Psychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration (PHRI)Injectable ketamine (IM or Subcut)Intravenous ketamine (IV)Other | General Psychiatry (medication management) | Internal Family Systems (IFS)Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)Trauma Focused | IndividualsGroups | Adults | Yes | No particular gender or sexual identity focus area | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | No particular religious focus area | AddictionAnxietyBorderline PersonalityBipolarDepressionGriefPTSD / TraumaObsessive Compulsive Disorder Marriage / RelationshipsMedication Management | None / Self-pay | No | Therapist's office | No

Yes | McSweeney | MSW | she/her | Ellen McSweeney, LICSW | Washington | DC | 20010 | Hi! I’m Ellen. I'm a licensed clinical social worker and a therapist in private practice. I work with people to help integrate significant psychedelic, meditative, and spiritual experiences. Ever since I was a child, I’ve had basically three favorite things: being outside, making music and art, and having deep talks about life with people. My interest in psychedelic therapy is closely connected with my own spiritual path. A decade ago, I went on my first silent meditation retreat, and felt a powerful calling to practice as deeply as I could. Eventually, I moved to a Buddhist monastery and spent more than two years training there. Cumulatively, I've spent more than eight months in silent retreat. In my years of intensive practice, I've become familiar with a wide variety of non-ordinary states, and how these can interact with our unique personal histories to create expansion, as well as difficulty. I use somatic (body-centered), psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based approaches in my work. I'm also comfortable exploring psychedelic experience from a wide variety of philosophical, spiritual, and/or religious frameworks. | Psychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration (PHRI)Other | Support for the integration of adverse meditation experiences and non-ordinary states | HumanisticInternal Family Systems (IFS)PsychodynamicTrauma Focused | Individuals | AdultsSeniors | Yes | WomenNon-binaryLGBQ+ (non-heterosexual preferences) | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | BuddhistChristianAtheistAgnosticAnimist | DepressionGriefPTSD / TraumaClimate AnxietyNarcissismBorderline Personality | None / Self-pay | Yes | Therapist's office | No

Yes | Jacobs | LPC | Brian Jacobs, LPC | McLean | Virginia | 22101 | I am a licensed therapist in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland with over a decade of experience. My private practice is based out of McLean, VA. While I specialize in treating complex trauma, OCD, depression, and anxiety, I work with patients from all walks of life each experiencing their own unique challenges. I pride myself on creating a safe, collaborative, and culturally sensitive therapeutic space. My treatment approach combines the latest advances in Western neuroscience with evidence-based mindfulness practices rooted in Eastern philosophies. I primarily utilize two complementary modalities - Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) - when working with patients seeking to integrate psychedelic experiences. These are evidenced based and trauma-informed treatments that aim to address the root causes of psychological suffering rather than simply addressing the outlying symptoms. In practice, this means that we work collaboratively to identify protective parts that may have served you well in the past but are no longer helpful or are actively harming you (i.e. avoidance, substance use, perfectionism, self-criticism, obsessive thinking, passivity, workaholism, self-harm) and to allow these parts to step aside so that you can process and heal from underlying pain, losses, and trauma. | Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (including preparation and integration)Sitting facilitating or guiding ketamine treatment sessionsPsychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration (PHRI) | Internal Family Systems (IFS)PsychodynamicTrauma Focused | IndividualsCouples | AdolescentsAdultsSeniors | Yes | No particular gender or sexual identity focus area | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | No particular religious focus area | AnxietyMarriage / RelationshipsMidlife CrisisBipolarObsessive Compulsive Disorder PTSD / TraumaClimate AnxietyChronic IllnessDepressionGender IdentityGriefSexual IdentityAutismAddictionBorderline PersonalityParentingBurnoutRacial Identity | None / Self-pay | Yes | I offer reduced fees on an as needed basis. | Prescriber's officeTherapist's officeOnline / telehealth | No

Recently, she helped co-found Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Healing (PATH) – a not for profit group working to make legal psychedelic therapy available and affordable to all – where she currently serves as board president. She also serves as co-chair of the board of the ACBS Psychedelic Special Interest Group, where she co-leads monthly ACT-informed PHRI peer consultation groups. | Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (including preparation and integration)Psychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration (PHRI) | Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)Trauma FocusedOther | Compassion Focused Therpy | IndividualsCouplesGroups | Adults | Yes | No particular gender or sexual identity focus area | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | No particular religious focus area | AnxietyBurnoutClimate AnxietyGender IdentityGriefMenopauseMarriage / RelationshipsMidlife CrisisNarcissismObsessive Compulsive Disorder ParentingPTSD / TraumaPrenatal Pregnancy PostpartumSexual Identity | None / Self-pay | Yes | Therapist's officeOnline / telehealth | No
Joey | Yes | Nichols | MD MPH FAAFP | Co-FounderBoard of DirectorsSecretary | he/his | Canopy Family Care | Takoma Park | MD | 20912 | You can schedule a free introductory call with me using this link: https://www.canopyfamily.care/intro | We all get stuck sometimes. I use psychotherapy, and sometimes psychedelic medicines, to help my patients get un-stuck, so that you can be open to new experiences, engaged in your life, have more satisfying relationships, and move closer to what you want in this world. I'm a family physician by training, which means I bring a whole person perspective to my work in mental health. I think about how people function in the context of their families and communities. I also practice psychotherapy from an ACT perspective, which helps us build skills of psychological flexibility. I trained with PRATI, the Polaris Insight Center, and the University of Toronto. I started this work because of the profound healing that I experienced in my own life and in the lives of people I care about. I administer ketamine to some of my psychotherapy clients as part of our work together. For clients already working with a psychedelically informed therapist, I collaborate with you and your therapist to customize your treatment plan. And for patients who are using other psychedelic medicines already, I can help you prepare for a safe experience, learn the most from what happened, and address any problems that may have come up. I cannot make referrals to underground psychedelic services, work with people under the influence of psychedelic medicines other than ketamine, or provide psychedelic medicines that are illegal under state and federal law. | Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (including preparation and integration)Sitting facilitating or guiding ketamine treatment sessionsPsychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration (PHRI)Medical evaluationsInjectable ketamine (IM or Subcut) | Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) | IndividualsCouplesGroups | AdolescentsAdultsSeniors | Yes | No particular gender or sexual identity focus area | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | No particular religious focus area | BurnoutClimate AnxietyDepressionMedication ManagementMidlife CrisisAnxietyChronic IllnessBipolar | None / Self-pay | Yes | Please feel free to discuss your situation with me. Miranda | Yes | Morris | PhD | Co-FounderBoard of Directors | True North Therapy and Training | Bethesda | MD | 20921 | I am psychologist and have been in practice for over 20 years. I have been a student of psychedelic assisted therapy for several years and currently focus on ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP), as it is both safe and legal. I also provide preparation and integration services for individuals who use psychedelics (e.g., LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms) in conjunction with but outside of therapy (I do not serve as a guide for people who wish to use psychedelic medicines during session). I don't see ketamine or psychedelics as miracle cures, but I do believe that they can significantly enhance and accelerate the work of psychotherapy for many people. | Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (including preparation and integration)Sitting facilitating or guiding ketamine treatment sessionsPsychedelic Harm Reduction & Integration (PHRI) | Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) | IndividualsCouplesGroups | AdolescentsAdultsSeniors | Yes | No particular gender or sexual identity focus area | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | No particular religious focus area | PTSD / TraumaAnxietyDepressionObsessive Compulsive Disorder ParentingMarriage / RelationshipsBurnout | None / Self-pay | Yes | I and others in my group practice offer reduced fee services as we are able | Therapist's officePrescriber's officeOnline / telehealth | No

Bar | Yes | Lehmann | MSW, LCSW-C, LICSW, QEEG-D, BCN | Co-FounderBoard of Advisors | He, Him | Better State of Mind | Takoma Park | MD | 20912 | Integrated Mental Wellness is an approach combining traditional approaches to mental health such as talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, medication treatment with other modalities that together more comprehensively support wellbeing. In addition to the standard treatments, I recognize that mental wellness has many domains including relationships/community, health/diet/physical activity, creativity, meaning/spirituality. This approach addresses a whole person as a unique individual attempting to deal in their own ways with their challenges. I set myself apart from the money-driven, sterilely impersonal, antiquated medical model that a large part of our mental health system still operates by. My services include therapy, neurofeedback, Ketamine Assisted Therapy. These services can be complimentary to one another, facilitating a process of change psychologically, mentally, and physiologically. My office is also integrated within a network of collaboration with other similar minded providers. | Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (including preparation and integration)Sitting facilitating or guiding ketamine treatment sessions | Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) | Neurofeedback and Biofeedback | CouplesIndividualsGroups | ChildrenAdultsAdolescentsSeniors | Yes | No particular gender or sexual identity focus area | English | No particular racial or ethnic focus area | No particular religious focus areaJewishBuddhistAtheistAgnostic | ADHDAnxietyMarriage / RelationshipsPTSD / TraumaChronic Illness | None / Self-pay | Yes | There are a certain amount of clients I take on a sliding scale based on financial limitation | Therapist's officeOnline / telehealth | No |
